On Sept. 16 one of my favorite guys was born. My Dad!! I have been blessed with awesome parents and am so grateful that I have the dad I do. You may wonder what makes MY dad so special. For the sake of time I will list just a few of the things that I LOVE about MY dad and why I think he is the BEST dad in the world.
*MY dad has worked for over 30 years in the same mine. Even though he hates going underground he gets into a 'cage' and rides 850 feet into the earth so that he could bring home a paycheck.
*MY dad was always willing to help us realize our dreams. He paid for piano lessons, clogging lessons, ballet lessons, voice lessons, trips to competitions, wrestling, football, drill team, theater, choir groups, volleyball, track, basketball, etc . . . He practiced with us and was there to cheer us on. I always knew my dad was there rooting for me. (No I didn't wrestle or play football, but my brothers did.)
*MY dad never yelled at me. I cannot remember ever being yelled at by MY dad. Once when I put a huge dent in his Cadillac I thought for sure this was the time he would yell, but he didn't. (He didn't speak to me for a day, but he didn't yell!!)
*MY dad was always in a good mood. He would ask us each morning how we slept and then say, "With your eyes closed?" He had us read scriptures as a family each morning during the school year and then would take the time (sometimes to our displeasure) to explain what we had just read.
*My dad loves my mom. He holds her hand, opens the door for her, and sends her flowers. He set the bar high for his future sons-in-law. I love that MY dad and mom kiss in front of us. Because of their example I married a man that I feel is very much like MY dad.
I love you dad and am everyday more aware of what a blessing life is because you are MY dad.
Our family is full of COLORFUL characters. Just like a bag of M & M's. We hope you enjoy getting past the "Hard Shell" that protects the "Chocolatey Sweetness" of our family. . .

Soccer and Burning Bushes
Today Red and Yellow played soccer. This is Red's first time playing and she had a blast!! I am Yellow's coach. We lost by one point, but everyone played really hard and did a super job. It was fun to go and cheer and run up and down the sidelines and no one thought I was weird, because they EXPECT the coach to be loud and running all over!!
Our next story took place last night when I was telling the kids the story of Moses and the burning bush. I asked them what they would think if a bush said their names. Blue said he would say, "Here am I." Just like Moses. I asked him if he was sure. I told him I thought I would say something like, "Did that bush just say my name?!?!" Then Red told us that she would say, "God is that you hiding under that bush?"
Wow, talk about priceless. If a bush spoke to me I don't think I would ask if it was God. What a funny girl.
Our last picture is of Brown and her new ouchie. She hit her face while playing at a friends and now has a lovely shiner. Good thing pictures aren't for four more weeks.

Burger King AGAIN?!?!?!?
After my shower today Red says, "Mom you smell really good." Feeling a bit smug and even proud of myself because I thought I smelt good and felt even better because I had taken the time to shave my legs I said, "Thank you. What do I smell like?"
"Burger King and fresh water.", was her reply. Really??? Burger King and fresh water? How does that happen? Guess we know what is on the minds of my little kiddies.

Red headed back to school today. She was so excited to walk to school with Blue and Yellow. I can't believe that my little girl is in pre-school.

Free time?!?!?!
So I now have three kiddies going to school. Tomorrow is Red's first day. What am I going to do with myself? Well, I have SEVERAL projects going that include;
Painting the basement TV room, so my man can have a Boston Red Sox "man cave", finding a long lost relative and figuring out what Indian tribe I am descended from, (I'm an Indian Outlaw, 1/2 Cherokee and Choctaw) making a hat for EVERY person in the world that may need one, finding recipes that will put a dent in the pile of zucchini and squash I have, working on losing weight instead of putting on my winter weight, etc . . .
I am sure you all have your projects too. Best of luck with them. If I even use1/2 of the yarn I have this winter I will have accomplished quite a lot!

What was in your nose???
Today Brown told her dad that she had a "Burger King" in her nose. I guess it's time to help her understand the difference between burger and booger.
